The devastation caused by the recent floods across several interior districts of Sabah has left many communities facing significant hardship, with families struggling to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the disaster.
In response to the crisis affecting thousands of residents in Pitas, Melalap, Kemabong and Paitan, Misi Prihatin Banjir Sabah was promptly carried out by Yayasan Qhazanah Sabah in collaboration with its holding company, Qhazanah Sabah Berhad, and its subsidiaries - Kojasa Trading Sdn. Bhd., Angkatan Hebat Sdn. Bhd. and Qhazanah Ventures Sdn. Bhd.
As part of the humanitarian effort, 500 cartons of mineral water and 500 bags of 5kg rice were distributed to the affected districts through the respective District Offices and the Unit Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat (UPPM). The essential supplies aim to support the immediate needs of affected families, providing basic necessities for drinking, cooking and daily household use while helping to ease the burden faced during the recovery period.
The initiative also reflects the organisation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 - No Poverty, SDG 2 - Zero Hunger, and SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities, by strengthening community resilience in times of crisis.
Yayasan Qhazanah Sabah was represented by its Executive Director, Majorie Noivont, together with several team members from the holding company and its subsidiaries who participated in the relief mission, reaffirming their collective commitment to delivering timely humanitarian assistance and standing in solidarity with flood-affected communities across Sabah.
