6-7 September 2025 - SK Tumunda Salimandut came alive with excitement and discovery as 150 students took part in a STEM Carnival aimed at introducing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on learning.
Organised by Yayasan Qhazanah Sabah in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur-based youth-led NGO Charisma Movement, also known as Projek Anak Malaysia, the programme featured interactive, country-themed booths that allowed students aged 10 to 12 to explore STEM concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Using STEM passports and an “around-the-world” concept, students learned how STEM applies to everyday life, while gaining early exposure to future educational and career opportunities. The carnival highlighted efforts to bridge the gap between rural and urban education by bringing meaningful STEM experiences to schools in Kota Marudu.
