KOTA KINABALU: Qhazanah Sabah Berhad (QSB) and its Group of Companies (the Group) should focus on the road ahead to achieve its goal says Chairman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob.
“Reflecting on the past is important, and taking notes on how to minimize mistakes and loopholes is equally crucial. Consequently, in 2024 let us remain committed to contributing back to the State. That’s our main purpose”. He said this in his speech during the Chairman’s Mandate Delivery 2024 for Qhazanah Sabah Group at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Thursday (Jan 11th).
The half-day event was honoured by the presence of State Assistant Minister of Finance II, YB Tuan Tan Lee Fatt who represented Sabah Ministry of Finance (MoF) YB Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.
In his speech, Datuk Dr Yusof highlighted that the increase of dividend for the Group in 2023 to RM20 million, compared to RM15 million in the previous year shows QSB’s commitment and optimism that in 2024 the Group will remain steadfast to achieve better performance. He also provides an insightful update of the Group’s performances throughout FY2023 and focus areas and strategies while sharing his aspirations to further solidify the Group positions for FY2024.
Additionally, Group Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Rizal Dahli in his welcoming remarks earlier shares that he firmly believes that teamwork and readiness to accept and adapt to changes are some of the most vital aspects to determine a company’s success.
“Qhazanah Sabah Group's effort to increase competitiveness depends on the commitment and togetherness of the entire Group to accept and adapt to change with an open mind. Hopefully with the right mindset and high-level commitment from each personnel, our Kumpulan Qhazanah Sabah will achieve the goal of success”, he commented.
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun urged all Government-Linked Companies (GLC), including the Group to wisely utilise funds injected to them by providing profit return to the State.
“We are Government, not a charitable organisation. Let the year 2024 be the year where Sabah Government can finally see positive result from GLCs, not just us pumping funds with no profit in return,” he said in a speech read by State Assistant Minister of Finance II, YB Tuan Tan Lee Fatt.
About 200 attendees including Chairmen and Directors of subsidiaries companies, as well as top Management and employees of Qhazanah Sabah Group were present during the event.
